Kitchen remodel cost calculator

Estimate a broad third-party editorial cost range from kitchen area, then add only a separate documented cost that is not already represented in the benchmark.

Start here: use the prefilled room area or enter your own, then calculate. The address and detailed measurements are optional and can improve location review and the material takeoff.
Why HHM asks for this information
  • Project address: identifies the state, county, likely permit authority, service area, taxes, delivery/travel context, and local labor/pricing research area.
  • Room dimensions and openings: calculate floor, wall, backsplash, countertop, cabinet, tile, and coating quantities instead of relying only on a broad room-size allowance.
  • Scope and finish level: tell HHM which trades, product classes, design effort, supervision, and risk review the project may require.
  • Known separate costs and waste: prevent omitted items and help convert measured coverage into realistic order quantities.
  • Photos and visualizer choices: help connect the desired appearance to the measured scope and supported products; photos never replace field verification.
Recorded in your summary only. This tool applies no regional cost adjustment.
Add it when available to attach service-area and county/jurisdiction context. It is not required for the preliminary calculation.
Enter 50–600 square feet.
Recorded in your summary only; it does not change the benchmark calculation.
Recorded in your summary only; it does not change the benchmark calculation.
Use only for a documented cost outside the benchmark; otherwise leave zero. The calculator cannot detect duplicate costs—do not add an item that may already be represented in the broad benchmark.
The selected planning reserve applies to the area-based benchmark subtotal. HHM confirms the appropriate project reserve after reviewing the property and scope.
Optional: add measurements for a detailed material takeoff
Measured project dimensions and material takeoff

Enter field measurements when available. Length and width establish floor area; ceiling height and openings establish net wall area; cabinet runs drive cabinet quantities; island dimensions and base-cabinet runs help estimate countertop coverage; backsplash dimensions drive finish coverage; shower dimensions drive receptor and wet-wall quantities. These values are shared with the HHM visual-planning brief.

Measurement status: The calculator uses the entered dimensions for preliminary material quantities. HHM verifies field dimensions, product coverage, waste, substrate, layout, code, and installation requirements before a final agreement.

Optional next step — HHM Visual Planning

Add a room concept after you calculate your measured scope

First calculate the planning range above. Then, if a visual concept would help, you can add a current room photo and compare supported materials or finishes against the same measured scope.

Linked calculator measurements

Enter the room dimensions in the calculator to connect the visual concept to material quantities.

Confirm the photo authorization to load the HHM Project Visualizer. Do not upload people, addresses, access codes, documents, or other sensitive information.

Optional next step: add a current project photo and design direction after you have reviewed the calculator result.

Open the optional project-visualization planner

Upload a current photo, choose the design direction, and HHM will create a concept tied to the measurements and selections already entered in this calculator.

Calculator-linked scope

Complete the calculator fields above; the values will be attached automatically.
